MSG, magic of food? Choose your condiment wisely!

MSG = One of the Keto Hazard

MSG increases insulin up to 300%!

MSG makes you fat!

Anything with MSG (monosodium glutamate, or modified food starch) will cause fluid retention.

MSG has tons of sodium, which is hidden and not even salty tasting. Think about how thirsty you get after eating at a Chinese restaurant or even any fast-food restaurant. Water follows sodium.

If you read this and realised you have been snacking a lot of junk food these days, go and have a check on the food labelling. I believe most of them contains this familiar name MSG or hidden under a variety of names:

🚫Modified food starch

🚫Autolyzed yeast

🚫Hydrolyzed vegetable protein

🚫Carrageenan

🚫Lutamic acid

🚫Yeast extract

Think twice before you eat your junk food from now on. Being understand that we can’t completely avoid consuming MSG especially eating out but we can consume less by avoiding packaged food containing MSG whenever possible.

Getting bored to eat salad with olive oil but don’t know which salad dressing to go with keto?

Don’t worry. Let’s see what we can get

  • Try to buy dressings that contain no soy oil, no corn oil, and no canola oil. Most of these oils are GMO.

  • The other point is to avoid high-fructose corn syrup, dextrose and cane or beer sugar.

  • Monosodium glutamate (MSG), also known as modified food starch, must be avoided too.

Recommendation:

  • Bragg salad dressings but this is rarely available in local market. As a simple, alternative, mix balsamic vinegar and olive oil, or even apple cider vinegar and olive oil, as a dressing.

  • Primal Kitchen Chipotle Lime Mayo (spicy) and Chosen Foods classic keto mayo (non spicy)

Extra tips:

Avoid these fats when making own dressing

❌Any product with trans fats

❌Margarine

❌Soy oil

❌Corn oil

❌Canola oil

Mustard is a popular condiment that's typically very low carb and fits well into most keto diet plans.

Can I get it from the market which is good to go if I don’t want to make my condiment from scratch?

【Heinz Yellow Mustard】

Heinz Yellow Mustard is keto-friendly because it is carb-free. It is also free of non-keto ingredients such as sugar, artificial sweeteners, MSG and highly refined oils.
