Cruciferous vegetables have some very interesting properties and it is recommended for ketogenic diet as they are low in net carbs.

✔️anti-estrogen

✔️anti-cancer

✔️anti-toxic chemical

✔️greatly help the liver in its ability to detoxify

✔️because estrogen is fat making and blocks the fat-burning growth hormone, eating many of these vegetables can help weight loss

Tips: If you experience bloating, steam them or cook them until no more bloating occurs. You may try as if you can’t tolerate only to some of the choice but not all. For example, broccoli cause you bloating but you can eat kale with no problem.

If you have bloating, even with healthy foods, you will not benefit from it and get to lose weight, because it’s acting as stress. So ensure you do not eat anything that bloats you.

After getting to know cruciferous vegetables, let's tune into the myth of cruciferous vegetables and your thyroid health. There’s one of my friend who is suffering from hypothyroidism sent in a DM and asked for advice in taking cruciferous vegetables.

Many people are told that consuming cruciferous vegetables will deplete their iodine reserves, thus worsening their thyroid glands.

Here’s the suggestion given

If you consume a good amount of cruciferous vegetables in your diets, the best solution is to merely add some iodine from sea kelp.

Sea kelp

✔️Good iodine source

✔️Provide all the trace minerals, in plant form for easier absorption

✔️Contains selenium, which is essential for the conversion of thyroid hormones

✔️Lower excess estrogen and shrink estrogen-created cyst on the ovary, uterus or breast

Consume sea kelp once or twice a week especially for ladies; and it is highly recommended for ketogenic diet with high consumption of cruciferous vegetables too!

Kale which belong to cruciferous family, is one of the superfood that fits for our daily needs.

Kale is a superior vegetable.

  • Best sources of calcium, potassium, manganese, vitamins A and C

  • Excellent for the liver and digestive organs

  • Contains cancer-fighting substances called indoles, which activate detoxifying enzymes in the liver that help neutralise potentially carcinogenic substances

  • Studies have shown that plant chemicals in the kale family have a protective effect against the risk of cataracts
